Recurrence Options Dialog

(Menu Bar > Edit > Other Task Attributes > Edit Task Recurrence).

This dialog allows you to define a variety of repeating patterns for your task, similar to Microsoft Outlook.

Start by selecting a frequency of repetition from the radio-buttons on the left:

Task Occurs Daily

Every <interval> days
Task repeats after the specified interval in days.

Every <interval> weekdays
Task repeats after the specified interval in weekdays. ie. The task skips over 'weekend' days as defined in the Preferences.

Every weekday
Task repeats every weekday as defined in the Preferences. This is equivalent to “Every 1 weekdays”.

End after <interval> occurrences
Task stops repeating after the specified number of completions.

Task Occurs Weekly

Every <interval> weeks
Task repeats after the specified interval in days.

Every <interval> weeks on <days of week>
Task repeats on the specified days of the week, after the specified interval in weeks.

End after <interval> occurrences
Task stops repeating after the specified number of completions.

Task Occurs Monthly

Every <interval> months
Task repeats after the specified interval in months.

Day <1-31> of every <interval> months
Task repeats on the specified day of the month, after the specified interval in months.

The <first/second/third/fourth/fifth> <Monday-Sunday> of every <interval> month
Task repeats on the specified day of the week, after the specified interval in months.

End after <interval> occurrences
Task stops repeating after the specified number of completions.

Task Occurs Yearly

Every <interval> years
Task repeats after the specified interval in years.

Every <January-December> <1-31>
Task repeats on the specified day of the year, every year.

The <first/second/third/fourth/fifth> <Monday-Sunday> of <January-December>
Task repeats on the specified day of the week, of the specified month of the year, every year.

End after <interval> occurrences
Task stops repeating after the specified number of completions.

Common Settings

Calculate next occurrence
from the Start Date, Completion Date, or Due Date. So for example, you get a reminder to start on Monday. The next reminder will come next Monday if you use the Start date. If you start on Monday and finish on Wednesday, and this is set to Completion date, then you'll get a reminder the following Wednesday.

When I complete this task
to Reuse the existing task if that makes sense for your purposes, or to Create a new task if you want to track each event separately. You can also set this to “Ask me what to do” to get the option on each recurrence. With that option set, when you complete a recurring task, you see the following dialog:
