Virus detection ?

Post by kdlorig » Wed Dec 02, 2020 9:43 am

Hello,

since some versions ago my bitdefender av blocks all updates
of TODOLIST.

Also the googled website is blocked for virus detection with log

"abstractspoon.pbworks.com/ contains Malware of type Cloud Virus"

What do you recommend to do, is it on my site?

Welcome kdlorig

Given the possibility of even the most secure sites being hacked, I can't absolutely promise that there is no cause for concern, but I can absolutely promise that what I upload to pbworks.com is malware-free.

So, whilst it is possible that someone has hacked pbworks.com and modified the download package, your experience is most likely to be a false positive of a similar nature to this report.

From the little I know about how AV software operates (in a generalised sense), I can say that in addition to checking for specific viruses/worms/etc, AV software also includes a lot of heuristic checks which look for behaviours which might be considered 'risky' from the perspective of the user's machine.

1. Software that downloads things
2. Software that downloads executables
3. New versions of software that download things

As for what you can do about it, I make some suggestions on the other report I linked to above which may help.

I'm also going to create a specific forum for handling virus alerts so that people can more easily get the reassurance they need.
