[Core] Hide dependent tasks until dependency is completed
Hi all,
I have a lot of projects that have one-after-the-other tasks, i.e. task A must be done before task B and then task C. Since it is pointless to see tasks B and C in the List View until Task A is done, is there any way to hide them?
I tried to set a filter on the "Dependency" being set, but since this field isn't cleared when the dependency is completed, that didn't work.
Is there any way to do this?
Thanks!

Not currently unfortunately, but it's a good idea so I'll add it to the feature list for 8.1 (8.0 nearly in beta).

Sounds great, thanks! I'd be happy to help test the feature when you get round to it.

Be great if you could test this to make sure it meets your needs.
The functionality is enabled via the 'Find Tasks' dialog:

Can I just state here (again) how blown away I am by ToDoList - I'm a new user and stumbled across this thread in the forum, and this "undocumented feature" is brilliant.
As an old school whiteboard and post-it Kanban user, it was possible to hide dependent tasks just by putting the first task post-it on top of the second task post-it... this replicates that and opens up a whole world of possibilities, thank you @abstr.
I do have one question. I assumed that if I wanted to see all of the tasks again, I would need to delete the rule - but that didn't do anything, so instead I had to add a second rule with "OR Dependency is set".
Would it be possible to add new dropdown option for "Dependency is any" so that it's easier to toggle the views? Or am I missing another easy way to do it?
Many thanks, JP.

Re: [Core] Hide dependent tasks until dependency is completed
Before we go there I'd like you to take me through your specific use case if you don't mind...Would it be possible to add new dropdown option for "Dependency is any" so that it's easier to toggle the views? Or am I missing another easy way to do it?
This is a screenshot of the 'Introduction.tdl' example tasklist showing the dependencies in the Gantt Chart. And this is what I see if I have a single rule filter which hides incomplete dependencies: Now can you explain what you are wanting to achieve in this specific context?
ps. If all you literally want to do is toggle the filter on and off then you can use 'View > Toggle Filter (F11)' but I suspect that's not the case...
