[Attribute Editor] More Flexibility?

Post by TableListFan » Sun Oct 13, 2024 9:53 am

Hi Dan,
in version 9 i like the division in the attributes box and always switch it on.
But are there any plans to make the division into sections more flexible?

At the moment, the order within the sections follows the alphabet. In German, for example, this means that fields that logically belong together do not appear one after the other.

The division into sections right now is realised via the data type. Logical relationships are lost in the process.

I would like to have the option of
- create self-defined sections
- specify a self-defined sequence within the sections.

Perhaps this could also contribute to the solution of Make an attribute mandatory (https://www.abstractspoon.com/phpBB/vie ... 2139#p9546) as you could make a grouping for all these mandatory attributes ?!

I hope that this can be harmonised with your design guidelines and thoughts.

Thank you very much,

Thx for your suggestions @TableListFan.

I'm not proposing to make any further enhancements to the attribute editor for 9.0 so that I can garner input from a wider group once it's been released, but have split off your comment about related fields being separated as a bug to be fixed in 9.0.
