[TDL 8.4/9.0] Can the attribute editing 'sidebar' be hidden?

Just saw the preview post for ToDoList 8.4/9.0.
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1966

The attribute editing 'sidebar' looks interesting.

I'm still absorbing some of the benefits you mentioned but the ones I grasp clearly sound good.

I assume the 'sidebar' will be able to be toggled to visible and hidden, but just want to be sure since with 7 horizonal days of task titles to display, plus the mini calendar-bar, horizontal real estate is critical for me in the Calendar.

I think the attribute pane would benefit a lot if you would add collapsible attribute sets so as to limit the displayed attributes based on attribute set selected.

On the other side it would be a great advancement if you would make the filtering pane to be used as a navigator for setting up views.
I imagine it like the image you've send but with three tabs on top of the pane. But filter pane not attribute pane.

First tab will have the filters

Second tab will be a folder tree. Each folder will represent the the view panes. So we will have tree view, list view, graph view, gannt view, weekly planner etc folders. Under these folders there will be stored named views that will have different saved filter settings for each of the view windows. So you can click on a folder to expand and select a preset filter for the corresponding view window.

Third tab will be the publisher were you can make export sets. An export set is a folder with named views selected from the second pane. Here each export set can be defined to be exported to different file formats.

These two suggestions if implemented. Will help alot with the UI real estate the first. And with project navigation and management the second.

That's what 'View > Maximise Tasklist' is for.

ps. It will also have its own 'splitter bar' for resizing its width.
pps. Did you know you can hide the mini-calendar bar...

Hi Dan,

The sidebar as discribed is the one I expected, and even if you don't see the interest ;) , maybe you could reconsider the possibilty to undock this side bar, to display it on another screen for example, or during a presentation, to only display the action list.

And again, TDL is my daily companion, thank you for that.

For these situations I recommend:

Code: Select all

View > Maximise Tasklist
combined with

Code: Select all

View > Bar Visibility > Hide All
