Report Builder: $(reportDate) does not create any date

Post by Peter2 » Fri Jan 19, 2024 3:25 pm

Hi Dan,
the $(reportDate) Tag in my reports does not generate any date, neither in preview nor the export.
cheers

(Pasted from viewtopic.php?f=10&t=330&p=1315&hilit=reportdate#p1315 ;-) )

And $(ReportTitle) either

Does the attached 'Test.rbt' file work for you?

If so, can you provide a copy of your non-functioning .rbt file please (you might need to zip it up)?

Sorry, no success. I used your report, your example file and change the language to English. See result in screencast in cloud:

Thx Peter.

I'm guessing that for some reason the report date is not being passed to the report builder.

To test that you will need to:

1. Close TDL
2. Add '-g -si' to the commandline
3. Restart TDL
4. Open the 'Report Builder'
5. Leaving it open, navigate to 'C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\Temp' in Windows Explorer
6. Attach a copy of 'Evidence Board.intermediate.txt' to your reply
7. On the 'Report Header' tab, click the 'Edit Html' toolbar button immediately to the left of the 'Report Attributes' button
8. Copy and paste the Html in your reply
9. Close TDL

Maybe this is the cause...

Yes, it seems that the option "Today's date" has to be selected to activate the $(ReportDate) variable. But ..

a) is it intended?
b) It works in Header, title and footer, but not in the body of the report

It's intended for every other exporter, so I'll have to think about how it might work here...

Yes. It doesn't appear in the 'Task Attributes' droplist and also doesn't really make sense to apply the report date to every task in the report.

Yes, that's clear. When trying to test "everything" I "test / create" sometimes things which are not really useful :?
