Importing Subtasks with Comments?
Hi there,
Is there any way to import a list, with Subtasks and include the subtask comments?
E.g.
I'm creating tab outline import and a tab on the same line could be a comment?
Or
I'm creating a CSV that includes task comments and indentations are Subtasks based on the first fields column information?

Re: Importing Subtasks with Comments?
Is it possible to have a delimiter on an outlined import?
- just tested it! Brilliant! Thank you!!

Re: Importing Subtasks with Comments?
Do you mean, is it possible to have an alternative delimiter to '|' ?
ps. There is also the 'Spreadsheet (.csv)' importer for more involved requirements but that relies on there being a header row from which you map individual columns to task attributes. Easiest way to check this out is to first export your tasklist using the corresponding 'Spreadsheet' exporter and then taking a look at the column layout produced.
Re: Importing Subtasks with Comments?
I never knew about the pipe delimiter, this is a game changer.
The CSV import unfortunately doesn't allow for sub tasks unfortunately so using a pipe on an outlined import is a game changer!
One thing, if I may?
I'm trying to tidy a tab outline file, however, there are many child items with the same parents.
Is there any tool you're aware of (eg VSCode plugin) or method that can merge children to the same parents?
Hope that makes sense, happy to elaborate.

Re: Importing Subtasks with Comments?
Yes pls...
ps. Importing CSV works well having first exported the tasklist to CSV, because it uses a column in which the parent ID must be specified.
pps. The 'Outline' importer also supports new-lines in the form of '\n' embedded in the text.
Re: Importing Subtasks with Comments?
1.1 Grandparent 1
2.1 Parent 1
3.1 Grandchild 1
2.1 Parent 1
3.2 Grandchild 2
-------
Whether indentations are used or not, if there was a way to merge the grandchildren with a single instance of the same parent that would be great.
Currently, parent 1 will be created multiple times.
Does this help?

Re: Importing Subtasks with Comments?
Are you referring to the 'Outline' or 'CSV' importers?
Perhaps you could attach a sample file which would help me better understand what you are trying to do...

Re: Importing Subtasks with Comments?
Sorry, didn't get an email, I'll check my junk mail.
Sorry, just out and about. In this case, we will say it's outline.
PS the pre spaces were stripped so could not show here.

Something worth adding, it may or may not be related.
When you move an item in mind map, it appears to have expanded items in the Task Tree when I return to it.
