Cannot open a tdl.file

Hi all,

like every day I open my ToDoList Software, but this time my ToDoList was completely empty (no file open). So I clicked on File --> Open TDL --> select the file in the location drive and then an error message pops up:

German: C:\User\.... konnte nicht geöffnet werden, weil es beinhaltet fehlerhaftes XML, welches die MSXML Komponente nicht interpretieren kann.
English (Google Translator): C:\User\.... could not be opened, because it contains malformed XML that the MSXML component cannot interpret.

Can someone tell me whats wrong with my tdl.file? Yesterday it work like usual. I already restarted my computer but this didn't help.

BR

This can mean:

1. Something 'bad' was pasted into a task's comments which the software was unable to 'clean up'
2. There was an interruption during the save process which corrupted the task file

Try:

1. Locating your most recent valid backup
2. Comparing this version with the broken version to gain insight into what broke it

Then get back to me...

Hi abstr,

thank you for your quick reply! I didn't know that beside my saved tdl.file there is also a backup folder, where all backups are located. I'm now using one of the back-up files and can continue with my to-dos.
Unfortunately I don't know how to compare both versions without opening them in the ToDoList-Software.

Yes, this can be non-trivial if you are not familiar with file comparisons, and harder still comparing XML files.

I'll see what I can do to simplify this process in case the problem happens again in the future.
