ToDoList (AbstractSpoon) Support

The ToDoList icon is missing from taskbar button for TDL 8.3.11.0 (Windows 11). Thank you.

It's very unlikely that this is a problem specific to ToDoList.

The icon shows up fine on my Windows 11 machine...

The behaviour clearly depends on todolist.ini content. In case of fresh installation of ToDoList the icon always shows. In case of my ToDoList .ini file the icon always doesn't show. Fresh todolist.ini file counts some 500 lines, my one counts over 5000 lines. So it's very hard to say what part of my .ini file is the reason of the problem.

It seems to me the issue is not related to general Windows problem of missing icons you mentioned. However, Windows Explorer restart shows ToDoList icon in my case. I can imagine: ToDoList starts, reads todolist.ini file, doesn't send to Windows its icon for some reason and works normally further. Windows Explorer restart makes Windows read ToDoList icon from ToDoList directory and show it.

I can agree the issue is specific and unique. Nevertheless it happens. Any ideas to find the culprit in .ini file?

Moreover, the problem is intermittent. Possibly, could it be related to time of reading long file?

Try cleaning up old settings via 'Tools > Cleanup Ini Preferences'.

First, it's a feeling based on fifty years experience in computing Second, ToDoList is the one and only program with vanishing icon among my over hundred other ones. But, I haven't observed this under Windows 10 though.

It didn't help.

Maybe I should use ProcMon to find a place of failure.

In the meantime I found ToDoList showed another icon, not its native one. It happened after update to 8.3.13.1.
