Currently there's only the option to get a quick list of all tasks whose due-date falls within the
current week/month etc.

It would be really great if there's an option to also include all tasks that are currently active
(e.g. having a start-date in or before the selected time-span but a due-date anywhere in the future)

You can construct more complex filters using the 'Find Tasks' dialog:
