Task Attributes moved to the side

Post by gmacpro » Sat Feb 01, 2025 8:51 pm

A few days ago, when I did an update, my task attributes moved from the bottom to the side and I can not find a toggle to switch it back. Please advise thanks.

Hi @gmacpro

Code: Select all

Tools > Preferences > User Interface > Position edit fields

Thanks so much - I did look but getting the right key word is the hard part.

Now that I have it below again, is there a way to not have it in a table format? This format takes up too much space and since I only have 6 items it only used one line previously.

TIA

I've included a photo of what I was using before the update. I like them below and not in a table. I sure hope this is still possible.

Only by reverting to 8.3. The reason the attributes were switched to the side was precisely because of this issue.

Have you considered having the attributes on the same side as the comments and 'stacking' them to save space?

Code: Select all

Yes - I have but the preferred method is one single row with my 5 or 6 items of interest. I'm trying to maximize the task list by showing as many items as possible without scrolling but also not making the app any larger. In both cases, the table format takes up 6 lines plus the sorting option so 7 / 8 lines are lost from either the comments row or the task list which is a bummer.

Looks like I must revert back which is never a good thing. Can you say if this functionality will be or could be put back in a future version?

Thanks

Very unlikely.

Okay then

You may want to change your graphic on this page to reflect the actual app versus what it was.

Before I provide any feedback, let me just say thank you - I've been using ToDoList for nearly 10 years now, and it's been an absolutely wonderful tool. I've pointed many of my friends towards it.

I did want to give you one more data point here. I've always used TDL exclusively on a vertical monitor, so this change was a really big hit in terms of space. I normally have both comments and edit fields at the bottom of the window, and I was able to leave 3/4 of the screen with my actual tasks. Now that edit fields are in a table, I lost another quarter of the screen. You may want to consider a configurable option for vertical monitor users.

That being said, using half my screen instead of 3/4 my screen for tasks works well enough for me. It's not a crisis.
