Show all tasks due by the end of next month toolbar button

Post by raym » Wed Apr 09, 2025 12:41 pm

Thank you for the wonderful work you do.
I have a question.

Is it possible to create two buttons (in preferences >> custom toolbar):
- show all tasks due by the end of next month
- show all tasks.

Or a single button: Toggle show all tasks due by the end of next month/show all tasks?

I use these mainly in list view.

Indeed it is and the way you do it is by first creating a custom (Find Tasks) filter.

A) Create the filter ('Edit > Find Tasks')

1. Select 'Due Date (Relative)'
2. Select 'Occurs before (<)''
3. Click the 'Value' drop-button
4. Select 'End of Next Month'
5. Try out the ruleset to make sure it produces the required outcome
6. Give it a name
7. Click the 'Save' button
8. Click 'Apply as Filter'

B) Verify the filter now exists in the main menu 'View > Activate Filter' sub-menu

C) Return to the custom toolbar preferences and add a button corresponding to the same menu command

D) Create an additional button for 'View > Clear Filter' (which actually should already exist in the default custom toolbar setup)

Thank you !
I succeeded.
In View > Activate Filter - my filter was listed as the first filter under Locked Filter (with the number 0 in front of it).

When I created a toolbar button associated with Find Tasks Filter 1 (and onmouseover indeed gave the name of my filter) and I clicked on it I saw that it was associated with G-Locked Tasks
It only worked when I associated my toolbar button with Find Tasks Filter 2.
No idea why but it works.
Thank you very much.

That sounds like a bug. Can you attach a copy of your preferences (ToDoList.ini) file please?

ps. Can you confirm what version of TDL you are using?
pps. When I tried to reproduce this myself everything worked as it should have, including assigning a shortcut key to the filter item.

Sure, can you please delete the file after you download it?
