Hello,
Probably what I wish to do can be done already but I don't know what I am doing, this is why I need some help.
I have Macro steps start and due dates, it came from the planing department via MS Project, however, I need to pen the micro tasks and track the completion of these to see if I will be able to complete in time or if I need more resources.
So I have a Stard Date and Due date for a task, I created subtasks and setup the Time Estimate I think it will take for each substask, however, I did not set start date or due date, but I do have the main task start date.
What I want to do is, based on the workday hours, distribute the subtasks in the gantt chart based on total hours estimated.
I was able to do this in Excel, but it lask all the other functionalities I need.
So lets say I have 10 substasts to perform, each one with a time estimate of 1 hour, and the main task start date is 02/12/24, and I have 1 workr/machine to do it with 7 hours of workday avaliable. What I want to achieve is the start and due date of the subtaskts to be updated based on that math.
So I have 1 worker working 7 hours and 10 hours of work starting on 02/12/24, so the subtasks should sum up to 7 hours and be asigned to 02/12 while the remaining 3 subtasks be asigned to 03/12. This way I have the entire estimate of work for the main task, and if the final due date of the sub tasks is over the main task due date, I know I need to get more workers or more work hours. So I would need to be able to update that on the go. So I add a second worker/machine all the due dates are updated because now my workday has 14 hours avaliable and everything is done by day 02.
This way I can have the dependencies only on the main tasks, since it can only be completed after all subtasks are done.
Is this possible with todolist? If yes, how do I achieve this?
Automate Due date without dependencies based on Start date , Time Estimates and work hours
