I have used TDL for many years. Initially I used it as a to do list; but these days I use other cross platform apps for that, that I can access from phone or laptop.
But TDL is still absolutely vital to me as an information repository. It's superb at this, and the combination of a structured hierarchy and a good search facility (and filters) means I can find the information I'm looking for immediately, even if it's buried deep in a very large TDL file!
For example: if I want details of my car - number plate, model details, tyre sizes, etc etc - to give to a garage when I book it in for repairs, or to renew my insurance - I can look these up instantly. Or packing list for trips: I have lists for ski holidays, walking holidays, beach holidays, golfing breaks. When I'm packing for a trip I copy the relevant one into a new list and check each item off as I pack it. Or recipes or other cooking instructions. Or clothes sizes. Anything!!
