Planning Office resources with TDL?

Post by Peter2 » Tue Apr 16, 2024 9:25 am

I wonder if TDL can be used for planning office resources ..

I think the andwer is "yes" and I already tested some approaches, but maybe some users have already found the best one ever possible.

The background is obvious: there are
- employees and they need
- computers
- desktops (on two different locations)
- mail account

Some employees do not change - year for year same resources. But the young guys are more dynamic - they are going to school or travelling around the world, go to the army or to another location- they come and go and so on (obvious too..)

Any great idea to handle this changes with TDL?

Regards

Am I correct in assuming that this is NOT about time-resourcing?

Important notice: This topic is not essential, for me it is a kind of proof of concept or a possible way to look if it can be done with TDL.

At the moment I have this *solution":

I have a list of employees: E1, E2, E3, E4, ....
They are used as "main tasks".

I have a list of computers: C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7
and a list of desk: D1, D2, D3, D4
Both lists are stored in "Inheritable Attribute - Default allocated to".

Now the idea is:
Every person (main task) has sub-tasks which consists of "type - allocated to - Start date - end date"

We have persons that:
- always use 1 PC and 1 desk
- always use 2 PCs and 2 Desks (changing location every day)
- sometimes need no PC and no desk because they are at school, at army, ...

So I have for example:
E1 (main task), uses
PC1 (sub task) alloc to "C1" from April 2024 to June 2025
desk1 (sub task) alloc to "D1" from April 2024 to June 2025
E2 (main task), uses
PC1 (sub task) alloc to "C2" from April 2024 to June 2025
desk1 (sub task) alloc to "D2" from April 2024 to June 2025
PC1 (sub task) alloc to "C3" from April 2024 to June 2025
desk1 (sub task) alloc to "D3" from April 2024 to June 2025
E3 (main task), uses
PC1 (sub task) alloc to "C4" from April 2024 to July 2024
PC1 (sub task) alloc to "none" from August 2024 to October 2024
PC1 (sub task) alloc to "C5" from November 2024 to June 2025

I want to see (in Gantt Chart and maybe in reports)
- which persons have which resources
- where are problems: person without computers; computers allocated to 2 persons, non used computers and so on..

If that's interesting I can upload this abstract example.

Yes please, that would allow me to play with various aspects of the software to see if I can make it meet your requirements
